The Olpe boys and Lebo girls track and field teams claimed Lyon County League championships Thursday at Welch Stadium.
Olpe finished with 159 points finishing 14 points ahead of Madison. Lebo finished with 133 points, winning by 11 points over Olpe.
Olpe’s league champions came from the 4×400 and 4x800m relays, Garret Cole in the javelin, and Darren Heins in the 800m.
The Lebo girls had four champions led by Brooklyn Jones who won the javelin and discus. Abigail Jones won the 400m. Audrey Peek won the pole vault.
Madison’s Bryson Turner won four league championships in the 100m, 200m, and long and triple jumps. The Bulldogs also claimed championships in the 4x100m relay and Hayden Helm in the discus.
Madison’s Yolaine Luthi won the high jump, the long jump, and the 300m hurdles.
The Olpe girls 4x400m and 4x800m relays also won league champions.
Olpe’s Lilly Skalsky won the 1,600m and 3,200m.
Waverly’s Brady Wallace won the 110m and 300m hurdles.
Burlingame’s Madison Hovestadt won the 100m and the triple jump.
Burlingame’s Willow Wyatt won the 200m.
Hartford’s Grayson Dailey won the 400m.
Burlingame’s Isabella Tyson won the 800m.
Olpe’s Kaleb Arnold won the 1,600m while Lebo’s Caleb Durst won the 3,200m.
Burlingame’s Matthew Heckman won the high jump with a clearance of 6-10.25 which is second-best in Kansas and first in Class 1A.
Lebo’s Corey Reese won the pole vault.
The shot put champions were Lebo’s Austin Bailey and Jalea True of Southern Coffey County.
