The Salvation Army of Emporia’s food pantry shelves are getting bare, meaning Saturday’s Stamp Out Hunger is coming at a good time.
Salvation Army Capt. Mylie Hadden says any and all non-perishable food items are needed, but some more than others.
Residents can donate simply by leaving bags of non-perishable food by their mailboxes Saturday. Letter carriers have already delivered plastic yellow bags for that purchase, but Hadden says the amount matters far more than the bag color. Hadden also encouraged residents to help the unloading process Saturday and the sorting process next week.
