Emporia Police detectives continue their investigation into allegations of inappropriate touching of students at the Emporia Middle School spring dance late last week, and they continue asking for help from people who attended the dance as the investigation moves forward.
Emporia Police Capt. Lisa Hayes is asking anybody with firsthand knowledge — meaning they were at the dance and they saw inappropriate activity — to call the Lyon County Emergency Communications non-emergency number at 620-343-4225 and to leave their phone numbers so detectives can take their information.
Officers received several reports of inappropriate conduct involving an adult and female students Friday night. Hayes says 10 officers and detectives have been working the case at times through the weekend.
There is no confirmation of any arrests. The name of the person allegedly involved has not been announced. USD 253 Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren says, “Student safety is our top priority and we take all concerns seriously.”
