Lyon County Crime Stoppers had a special reception at the Lyon County History Center on Tuesday.
Part of the event was to recognize founding member Evora Wheeler for over 35 years of service to the organization and to the community. Wheeler tells KVOE News she’s proud of Crime Stoppers’ work to protect “the entire community.”
Also noted was fellow longtime member Bonnie Klumpe, who has been with the organization “30-plus years.”
Recently retired Emporia Police detective David Holmes, the department’s Crime Stoppers representative for a decade, says the organization plays a key role between the community and law enforcement.
The event also included information about Crime Stoppers and its work in fundraising and overseeing the anonymous tip process through p3tips.com and the P3Tips mobile app, including reviews and decisions about potential rewards. More information is available on the Lyon County Crime Stoppers Facebook page, and KVOE News posts information whenever Crime Stoppers offers rewards in criminal cases.
