Formal charges are now official after what Emporia Police say they served a search warrant on a local marijuana grow operation Monday.
Scott Lockyear, 64, and William Lockyear, 32, are both charged with single counts of distributing anywhere from 450 grams to 30 kilograms of pot, as well as unlawful cultivation of anywhere from five to 50 plants and paraphernalia possession. William Lockyear is also charged with one count of methamphetamine possession.
Both were arrested after a warrant was served at an unspecified residence in northeast Emporia involving Emporia Police and Lyon County deputies. Initially, Emporia Police reported finding at least four pounds of marijuana, 10 marijuana plants, four unspecified firearms and four truckloads of marijuana grow equipment. The official complaints on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal indicate the equipment includes ultraviolet grow lights, dehumidifiers, ventilators, pots, soil, instructions and a vacuum sealing device.
Preliminary hearing dates are June 21 for both men.
