Budget season is underway for Lyon County commissioners.
During the study meeting Wednesday, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness CEO Amanda Cunningham presented a flat funding request from last year. She says it didn’t feel right to ask for an allocation rate increase this year.
County Clerk Tammy Vopat is requesting slightly higher amounts for both the County Clerk and Election Office departments. She says ongoing inflation increases are part of the reason why.
Vopat is also requesting 4-percent increases for merit, cost of living and longevity.
More budget discussions are coming as part of the County Commission’s action meeting Thursday. Kansas Legal Services’s local director, Ty Wheeler, will present the agency’s funding request.
Other business Thursday includes a possible change in rates from Lyon County Area Transportation and the 2023 certification of assessed values for real estate, personal property and oil and gas.
Thursday’s meeting begins at 9 am at the County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
