Plea hearings are ahead for two defendants in the 2017 murder of Emporian Jesus Avila.
Andrew Granado and Jovan Pecina will now have hearings Aug. 21 after status hearings Wednesday in Lyon County District Court. Both are charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy, arson and other counts in Avila’s death in September 2017.
Co-defendant Alan Alanis has a review hearing July 13. Co-defendant Samuel Garcia, accused of being the gunman in the incident, will be sentenced Aug. 9 on charges of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. Co-defendant Armando Nunez is serving 47 months in prison after pleading no contest last year to attempted burglary of a vehicle with intent to steal a firearm, interference with law enforcement and criminal damage.
