The Kansas State High School Track and Field meet is underway at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.
14 athletes have earned medals and two have won state championships.
Osage City’s Landon Boss won the javelin in Class 3A. He finished fifth in the shot put.
Madison’s Bryson Turner had a big first day. He finished second in the 1A long jump and took first in the 1A triple jump.
In Class 1A, Olpe’s Lilly Skalsky finished seventh in the 3,200m run.
Lebo’s Cira Plummer finished 14th.
Olpe’s Kaleb Arnold finished fourth in the 3,200m run.
Lebo’s Caleb Durst was right behind Arnold. He finished fifth.
Harford’s Cody Cleveland finished 13th while Waverly’s Brantley Petersen finished 16th.
In the Class 2A girls 3,200m, Northern Heights’ Teagan Hines finished 15th. Chase County’s Kinslea Glanville finished 16th. In the Class 2A boys 3,200m, Lyndon’s Brayden Marcotte finished 10th.
In Class 3A, Osage City’s Emory Speece finished fourth in the 3,200m run.
Osage City’s Jaiton Bosse finished 10th.
Lyndon’s Kaedin Massey finished second in the discus in Class 2A. Osage City’s Lexi Boss finished second in the discus and finished eighth in the javelin.
Madison’s Yolaine Luthi finished fifth in the Class 1A girls high jump.
Council Grove’s Lily Zeigler finished second in the 3A high jump.
Lebo’s Brooklyn Jones finished sixth in the javelin.
In the preliminary events on the track, Lyndon’s Trysten Sowers qualified for the finals with a fifth-place finish in the Class 2A girls 400m dash. Chase County’s Tag Groh won the prelims of the Class 2A boys 400m dash. Madison’s Yolaine Luthi qualified for the finals in the Class 1A girls 300m hurdles.
Emporia High’s Kyle Obermeyer won his heat of the 5A 110m hurdles after he received a rerun in the event due to being tripped up in his first run.
Emporia High’s 4x400m relay qualified for the finals with an eighth place finish.
