Emporia High will be searching for a new softball coach.
Annie Rockley has resigned after one season as head coach. She says it was a decision that was unexpected.
Rockley guided the Lady Spartans to a 5-16 season this past spring.
Rockley was named head coach of the Lady Spartans last fall. Prior to being named the head coach of Emporia High, Rockley was an assistant for the Lady Spartans for two seasons.
Rockley played two seasons at Emporia State. She’s fortunate for her time in Emporia.
Rockley says she’ll be moving to the Kansas City area and taking a job at Spring Hill High School. Rockley is unsure at the moment if she’ll continue coaching in the immediate future.
Rockley’s resignation will be accepted by the USD 253 Board of Education on June 14.
A search for a new coach has begun according to Emporia High Athletic Director Beau Welch.
