For nearly a month, area residents have been supporting a Lyon County man who was badly hurt in a UTV crash near Hartford on his birthday — and there is another chance to help Hunter McCoy’s recovery this weekend.
A special biscuits and gravy breakfast and gun raffle will take place at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building from 7 am to 1 pm Saturday. Organizer Richelle Birk says McCoy is making some progress after the wreck May 6.
McCoy was thrown off a UTV when it crashed, suffering critical head trauma and an aortic aneurysm along with other injuries. After spending time at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, he has been transferred to Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The suggested donation for the meal is $10 a plate, but a freewill donation will be accepted. Tickets for the Henry 30-30 rifle are $20 each, payable only by cash, and the winner does not need to be present to win. The overall goal is $20,000, and Birk says around $15,000 has been raised so far.
