The Summer Junior Golf season begins Thursday. The Emporia Golf Course will be hosting the first Kansas Junior Golf Tour tournament of the summer. 47 golfers are entered to play with 5 from Emporia. Nolan Jacob and Hudson Sauder will be playing in the 16 and over age group. Playing in the 13-15 age group will be Chesney Erkel and Marly Harter. In the prep 12 and under division Maddex Gurley will be playing. Drew Buchman of Council Grove will also be playing in Thursday’s tournament. The winners in each age group will qualify for the Kansas Junior Tour Championship to be played July 24th and 25th at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course.
The tournament is also a qualifying tournament for the Notah Begay Championship that will be played on June 28th and 29th at Mayetta.
The First group tees off at 8:30 am.
Thursday Results:
In the 16 and over division Andrew Fowler of Overland Park finished in 1st place. The Blue Valley Northwest golfer, who tied for 35th place at the 6A State tournament, finished with a 1 under 70.
Drew Buchman of Council Grove finished in 4th place with a 74. Emporian Nolan Jacob finished in 5th place with a 76 and Hudson Sauder of Emporia finished in a tie for 8th place with an 80.
In the 13 to 15 age group, Jackson Powers of Manhattan finished in 1st place with a plus 1, 72. Powers finished in a tie for 10th place at the 6A State tournament.
Emporian Marley Harter finished in 11th place with a 92 and Chesney Erckel finished in 14th place.
In the Prep-12 and under division Maddex Gurley of Emporia shot a 54 for 9 holes.
Marley Harter and Chesney Erckel will play in a Junior Tour Tournament at Carey Park at Hutchinson Friday.
