Newman Regional Health has approved its now-annual funding request for Lyon County.
The hospital’s Board of Trustees made the decision during its monthly meeting Wednesday. Chief Executive Officer Bob Wright says the ask will be $800,000.
The total replacement cost will be around $1.5 million. The request may officially go before the County Commission next week.
Meanwhile, the hospital has officially extended weekday hours for ExpressCare effective Thursday. Director of Business Development Steve Bazan says it’s a “significant operational change.”
Weekday hours are now 8 am to 8 pm, changing from the longstanding times of 1-9 pm. Weekend hours will remain 10 am to 6 pm.
Wright says recent trends support the move, with 25-30 patients a day going through ExpressCare. Wright also says ExpressCare traffic has stayed largely steady for months as the COVID-19 pandemic waned and officially ended last month. Clinic Administrator Lynn Doeden says Express Care is available for residents who need same-day medical visits and have “non-emergent” illnesses or injuries.
