So far, Emporia hasn’t seen much of any rainfall despite numerous chances of rain this week.
That hasn’t been the case elsewhere, with area rain totals of 1 inch in Cottonwood Falls from Tuesday, 1.5 inches in Waverly and over 2.5 inches in Lyndon from Wednesday — and totals as high as 6 inches Wednesday in certain areas of Franklin County. After heavy rain Tuesday afternoon into evening and again Wednesday morning, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office reported water over several roads. An update is expected later Thursday morning.
Shower and storm chances persist again for most of Thursday, with heavy rainfall and isolated flooding again possible. The same holds true for Friday, Saturday and now Sunday before the unsettled weather pattern comes to an end.
