A motions hearing is coming Monday for a New Mexico woman who allegedly led a four-county law enforcement chase starting in Lyon County nearly a year ago.
Rebecca Estrada will appear before Judge Doug Jones at 1:30 pm. Estrada is charged in Lyon County with flee and elude, interference with law enforcement and traffic violations after an incident in late June 2022.
The delay in court proceedings locally follows a related court process in Franklin County, where Estrada was arrested and ultimately sentenced to 10 years in prison. Estrada was accused of leading the chase through Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties before stopping in Ottawa. She was also accused of hitting a Franklin County deputy with her vehicle, forcing the deputy to go to the hospital briefly, and hitting two Lyon County cruisers before getting into an unlocked semi and triggering a nearly four-hour standoff before she was arrested. Early concerns of human trafficking were never pursued in state court.
