The Emporia Fire Department responded to an ammonia spill at the Emporia Water Treatment Plant Sunday morning.
EFD was called to the plant just before 9:30 am. According to City Communications Manager Christine Torrens, no staff were injured and the reported spill did not have any effect on the city’s water supply.
According to Fire Batallion Chief Eron Steinlage, the tank which holds the ammonia became overly full. Crews were on scene for a little over an hour.
