Despite some less-than-favorable weather conditions, the 85th annual Flint Hills Rodeo appeared to be a rousing success.
That’s according to organizer Dow Wilson who says they received a lot of positive feedback following the three-day event in Chase County.
Wilson says a sense of tradition mixed with tremendous national and local talent has aided the event in becoming a great success year after year.
From Thursday to Saturday residents and rodeo lovers from across the area and beyond were able to take in some of the best performers the rodeo world has to offer. Adding to the excitement somewhat were scattered showers and storms that occurred throughout the weekend.
Organizers say that rain or shine, muddy or dry nothing will stop the rodeo from going on and it certainly did not this weekend. Wilson adds he believes the weather conditions may have made the event all the more unique for many of those in attendance.
Wilson says organizers plan to take the next few days off before reconvening for their regular meeting where they will begin brainstorming for next year’s event.
