A sizeable hole was determined to be the cause of a watermain break in southwest Emporia Monday morning.
Underground Utility Crews were called to the intersection of West Street and 2nd Avenue for a break right around 7 am. According to the City of Emporia, the cause of the break was a 25 inch hole that developed in the piping.
Crews managed to repair the break and had water service fully restored to all effected customers by 10:30 am.

The break was reported at West Street and 2nd Avenue just before 7 am. Water service in the area may be disrupted as crews continue repairs.
