The 2023 Master Gardeners tour allowed local residents an opportunity to interact with some of the greenest thumbs in Emporia Saturday.
Included on the tour were Tim and Trish Dorsey of 2035 Prairie Lane. Trish Dorsey says they have put in a lot of work over the past several months and notes that she had many years of practice to find the right formula for the perfect garden.
That being said, she tells KVOE News the garden is always a “work in progress” and she has several plans for how to continue expanding it in the future.
Also on the tour schedule was Hetlinger Developmental Services and its horticultural therapy program. Hetlinger Director Jill Burton was very proud to have their agency featured on the tour saying it shows how important Hetlinger is to the local community.
Hetlinger horticulture therapist Andrea Salsbury says the program is not only about the growth of plants and vegetables, it also provides individual growth for Hetlinger clients.
Other stops on the tour included the home of Bob and Brenda Redeker at 890 Road L and Susan and David Mai at 1424 State Street.
