Heavy scattered rainfall brought minimal totals to the KVOE listening area early Saturday morning.
The KVOE Studios received 0.60 inches of rainfall after storms developed around midnight bringing moderate to heavy rainfall at times to the area.

*Seven miles southwest of Emporia – 0.70 inches
*Two miles east of Strong City – 0.70 inches

6 am Saturday: WEATHER: Power restored following large-scale outage in southwest Emporia Saturday morning
Early morning storms brought a handful of warnings and a significant power outage to the KVOE listening area Saturday.
More than 1,500 residents were offline for nearly four hours when the outage developed just after 2:10 am following the heavy thunderstorm activity in the area. The outage left customers offline east to west from 9th Avenue to Industrial Road and north to south from 15th Avenue to the intersection of Road 160 and South Prairie.
Evergy crews had the outage restored just before 6 am. Evergy says the outage likely resulted from the thunderstorms in the area, however, no definite cause has been determined.

Early morning thunderstorms have brought warnings and outages to the KVOE listening area Saturday.
More than 1,500 Evergy customers were knocked offline just after 2:10 am in southwest Emporia. The outage knocked out power east to west from 9th Avenue to Industrial Road and north to south from 15th Avenue to the intersection of Road 160 and South Prairie.
Evergy crews are currently on scene working to restore the outages.
Storm activity began right around midnight and triggered brief warnings for Lyon, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties. Heavy rainfall accompanied the storms.

Isolated storms and showers are likely through the late morning to early afternoon hours and will likely become more scattered later in the evening. Storms could be capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts, small hail and more heavy rainfall that could bring an additional 1 to 2 inches.
Saturday’s activity follows severe storms from Monday which brought heavily varied rain totals ranging from 0.5 inches to nearly 3 inches in portions of the listening area.
