Local and area law enforcement agencies are reporting scam activity as part of apparently separate schemes.
The Emporia Police Department says it has received “several” reports regarding somebody claiming to be with Lyon County District Court. The caller says the potential victims have missed jury duty and could be fined. Officers say District Court will not contact you in this manner.
Meanwhile, the Coffey County Sheriff’s Office says residents have reported possible scam activity for past due medical invoices from Alliance Diagnostics. Other details about the alleged scam have not been detailed.
