The Chase-Marion county line continues to be an active zone for small earthquakes after a pair of tremors last week.
The most significant was also the first one, a magnitude 3.2 quake June 4 roughly sight miles southeast of Lincolnville and 36 miles west of Emporia. Weak shaking was reported as far away as Strong City, or 15 miles from the epicenter.
The second, a magnitude 2.3, happened Tuesday evening about 8 miles north of Cedar Point and 34 miles west of Emporia. Again, weak shaking was reported in Strong City, 15 miles from the epicenter.
No injuries or structural damage was reported with either quake.
These mark the 22nd and 23rd earthquakes in a six-square-mile area straddling the Chase-Marion county line so far this year. The June 4 quake has been the strongest of those tremors so far this year. No damage or injuries have resulted from any of the quakes.
