A year after implementing the CodeRed notification system, the City of Emporia has announced it has moved to a new platform effective Monday.
Civic Ready will be the city’s new mass notification platform that offers several benefits including a more varied range of notifications residents can receive. City Communications Manager Christine Torrens:
Civic Ready is available in 160 languages and Torrens says setting preferences for how you would like to receive notifications is far less complicated than with CodeRed.
For those who were already signed up for notifications through CodeRed there information will be automatically entered into the CivicReady system. However, residents will only receive public safety alerts until they change their preferences through the MyAlert app.
Alerts will be available through phone call, text and email. Those wishing to only receive messages through text should text EmporiaKS to 38276. For more information download the MyAlert app or visit emporiaks.myfreealerts.com.
