No evacuations were needed following a gas leak in South Emporia Tuesday morning.
According to Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage, the gas leak reported at 221 West Logan Avenue, the Emporia Friendship Center, was due to a knob that was not turned off on a stove in the building.
Kansas Gas Service was contacted out of caution, however, no injuries were reported and the building did not have to be evacuated.

Emporia Fire is responding to a gas leak in south Emporia.
Fire crews were called to 221 West Logan Avenue just after 10:50 am for a gas leak inside of the Emporia Friendship Center. Further details are currently pending.
