Thunderstorm chances are slim Thursday and Friday, but a severe thunderstorm chance exists near Emporia both nights.
Thursday night has a marginal severe weather risk along and west of a line from Council Grove to Plymouth to Virgil between sunset and early Friday. Large hail, damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall are possible with the strongest cells. Areas east of that line may have non-severe thunderstorms.
Friday night has a marginal risk along and south of a line from near Cottonwood Falls to Madison, again with hail, wind and heavy rain the main concerns. Areas north of that line may have sub-severe storms.
Shower and stormn chances continue through Sunday, with the highest percentage of storms — and another round of potential severe weather — setting up for Saturday night. Saturday’s severe weather risk area is currently almost identical to Friday’s, although risk details are developing.
