A Strong City woman is in custody after allegedly hitting a Chase County deputy early Tuesday.
The Chase County Sheriff’s Office says it received reports of person walking in the middle of Kansas Highway 177 just north of Cottonwood Falls shortly after 5 am. According to the office, the responding deputy tried to explain the woman, later identified as 40-year-old Leah Anne Corwin, can’t walk down the middle of the highway — only to get hit on the shoulder.
The deputy did not need a hospital trip afterward.
Corwin was arrested on suspicion of battery on and interference with law enforcement, as well as possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, pedestrian under the influence and pedestrian use of roadways. Formal charges are pending.
