A man accused in Lyon County District Court of drug distribution within 1,000 feet of a school and other counts may not go to trial until next month at the earliest.
What was supposed to be the final pretrial in the case of Alejandro Lara-Ceja was delayed until July 5, meaning a potential trial start of Monday now won’t happen until at least July 10.
Lara-Ceja was initially charged in April 2020 with distributing drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, as well as criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, criminal discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm while under the influence, DUI and possession of both drugs and paraphernalia.
Separately, a review hearing for a man listed as a fugitive from Oklahoma was also delayed.
Joseph Whittington was arrested locally in May. He’s accused of possessing a “controlled dangerous substance” in Lincoln County, Oklahoma.
Whittington, who has two drug possession convictions on his Oklahoma record, will be back in court July 25.
