USD 386 Madison Virgil is hopeful its new Ag building will be up and running by the start of the fall semester later this year.
According to USD 386 Board President Jeff Williams, groundbreaking has already taken place on the new facility with exterior work tentatively set for completion by August. Interior work may take a bit longer and Williams says it is unclear if they will be able to hold classes inside of the more than $300,000 building during the fall semester.
That being said, once the facility is complete, Williams tells KVOE News the building will be a great resource for both district students and the community as a whole. Speaking of the community, Williams says without support from district patrons, this facility wouldn’t be a possibility let alone a reality.
Discussions on the new building came as part of the USD 386 Board of Education meeting this past Wednesday where board members also began preliminary discussions on the district’s sports agreement between Hamilton and Madison. Williams says the current agreement is set to expire in January and he believes they will have a new agreement in place well before then based on the course of current conversations.
When it comes to the agreement, Williams says there are three key items that have to be addressed, student enrollment, financial obligation between the two schools and supervision.
Separately, the board also approved the salary for new Superintendent Tammy Baird Wednesday. Williams says this was simply a “house cleaning item” that needed to be addressed before the start of the school year.
