Totals are pending, but early indications are the first-ever Help a Vet BBQ event did well for the USD 252 Honor Flight program.
Residents gathered at the Tractor Supply Company parking lot Saturday. Organizer Chuck Harper says the fundraiser made sense, given his prior involvement with the trip.
Besides the choice of chicken or ribs as the main menu item, the event featured a small car show and small bike show as well as a raffle.
Southern Lyon County’s Honor Flight program also benefited from the first Front Porch Jams concert of the summer Friday night. Totals from that event are still pending.
