Area fire crews responded to a vehicle fire on a major highway early Sunday evening.
Emporia and Hartford Neosho Rapids firefighters were called to I-35 southbound at the 141 exit at 5 pm for a vehicle fire. According to Battalion Chief Ryan Conley, the tires of a U-Haul trailer were on fire upon arrival, however, Hartford Neosho Rapids had the flames extinguished quickly.
No injuries were reported and a cause has not been announced.
