The Los Angeles Angels powered past the Kansas City Royals 5-2 Sunday.
The Royals scored 1st when Maikel Garcia scored on a Freddy Fermin single in the 2nd inning. The Royals took a 2-1 lead when Garcia scored on a Samad Taylor single in the 4th inning.
The Angles took the lead for good in the 5th inning when Shohei Ohtani hit a 2-run home run and Mike Trout hit a solo home run. Jared Walsh added a solo home run in the 9th for the Angels.
The Royals open a 3-game series in Detroit Monday. Jordan Lyles will be starting pitcher with the first pitch at 5:40 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 5 pm.
The Royals did make a couple of roster moves Sunday.
They placed 2nd baseman Michael Massey on the 10-day injury list and called up Matt Beaty from Omaha.
They also designated pitcher Mike Mayers for assignment and called up Brooks Kriske from Omaha.
