Visitors to the David Traylor Zoo Sunday afternoon will have a chance to go behind the scenes thanks to the annual Emporia Friends of the Zoo Open House Event.
The open house will run from 1-3 pm and allow residents to tour various facilities, interact with off-exhibit animals and also quell some of the curiosities they may have regarding day-to-day operations at the zoo. Director Lisa Keith says the open house gives visitors a full picture look at zoo operations.
Along with tours, water activities and various stations around the zoo, members of the Emporia Friends of the Zoo will be on hand selling memberships, souvenirs and hotdogs while also handing out free popcorn to visitors.
KVOE will be broadcasting from the open house event from 12:30 pm to 2 pm Sunday. For more information contact the zoo at 620-341-4270 or email zoo@emporiaks.gov.
