Olpe and Emporia firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire Wednesday afternoon, but Olpe Fire Chief Wade Schmidt says the fire turned out to be small with little damage.
Firefighters responded to 203 West Highway 99 and found the fire was already out, so Emporia was canceled before arriving on scene. Schmidt says there was a small fire on the front wooden steps. The passerby who reported the fire also stopped and put it out, according to Schmidt.
Lyon County deputies are investigating, but Schmidt says no criminal intent is suspected.
