Summer and fall will be busy for Street Cats Club.
KVOE’s Talk of Emporia on Friday highlighted three upcoming events, including the first-ever Lolapalooza on July 8 at Ninth and Commercial. The event will feature games, disc golf, a food truck, music, prizes and food trucks.
The event is named after Purralot Kitty Rescue founder Lola Walker and raises money to replenish the Lola Love Fund, created to help residents get their cats spayed and neutered, specifically those who normally couldn’t afford those services.
Shortly after Lolapalooza, Street Cats Club will have its now-annual online auction — called Feral and Fabulous. The auction July 15-22 will be accessible at streetcatsclub.org and will have around 100 available items, including themed gift baskets and trips. Proceeds will help the group continue its mission of spaying, neutering, fostering and providing emergency medical care to stray cats.
This fall, Street Cats Club is setting up the debut of the Black Cat Ball — on Friday, Oct. 13, at the Emporia Granada Theatre. Besides music from Turner Entertainment, food catered by Chi Em Eats and “signature spooky drinks,” there will be a photo booth, a haunted tour and a costume contest. There will also be a VIP reception before the main event.
