Firefighters were sent to a brush fire north of Emporia on Sunday afternoon.
Emporia Rural and Americus crews went to the 700 block of Road 270 just before 5 pm. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says a trash pile lit Sunday morning apparently got out of control Sunday due to wind and got into a tree line. Firefighters got the blaze out and also helped with some tree cleanup before going back in service.
Fuller says there was no damage to structures as part of the fire. No injuries were reported.
