As the city of Emporia moves towards a decision on one major huosing development, construction processes are set to begin on a project approved earlier this year.
The city’s contractor is beginning utility improvements, namely for waterline and sanitary sewer, for the Mahtropolis subdivision near Whittier Street between Riley and Trusler. This work should continue through August, weather permitting.
The Mahtropolis project will bring nearly 30 homes to northeast Emporia near the Trusler Sports Complex and the intersection of 12th and Burlingame.
A decision on the 50-plus lot Kretsinger subdivision near the the intersection of South Exchange and Soden’s Road outside the David Traylor Zoo will be discussed by Emporia city commissioners, although the official date for that hasn’t been set. The Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission gave unanimous approval to that project’s final plat earlier this month.
