The congregation of St. James Missionary Baptist Church is welcoming those in need to take advantage of its new community outreach program that gets underway this weekend.
During a recent appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show, St. James Pastor Larry Williams announced the opening of “The Storehouse” a new community clothing shop that provides free clothes and other items to families in need across the community.
The church will host a community clothing giveaway at the Storehouse, 724 Sylvan Street, from 9 am to 1 pm Saturday. Pastor Williams says the Storehouse is the continuation of an effort begun by his daughter Krishawn prior to her passing this past June.
Lawana Williams, the mother of Krishawn and wife of Pastor Williams, is leading the new clothing ministry and says serving others was something Krishawn had a deep passion for.
Donations, both of items and dollars, are being accepted at the church, 730 Sylvan Street, and Pastor Williams asks that clothing donations be left on the church porch while monetary donations should be made out to the Storehouse.
