With Southwick House moving towards adding its first executive director, it’s also working towards finalizing its approach to helping women in crisis situations.
On KVOE’s Morning Show on Monday, Board President Joelle Spotswood said the list of services is under discussion. For now, Southwick House will focus on women with a goal of expanding to children later.
Once the application window closes, interviews for the executive director will likely be a two-step process. Spotswood says the director will be the person who “gets things moving” on services and a new location. A degree from a four-year college or university, preferably a graduate degree, or experience working in non-profits, as well as at least three years of relevant leadership roles, experience with “diversified sources of income,” strong communication skills and an ability to work on behalf of at-risk communities are all desired.
One of the key milestones ahead will be fundraising, including a capital campaign. Details on that will be announced later.
Candidates interested in applying are asked to email a resume, cover letter and contact information for three references to Spotswood at jspotsw1@jccc.edu.
