A Missouri man is under arrest after allegedly leading Chase County deputies on a pursuit while intoxicated Monday night.
The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy tried to begin a car stop for a vehicle going 80 mph in a 45 mph zone on US Highway 50. Instead of pulling over, the driver, later identified as 64-year-old Richard Herrington of Kansas City, allegedly drove off and sped up.
Deputies say Herrington went west on US-50 to CP Road, began to double-back on county roads and returned to US-50 so he could go eastbound. Herrington was eventually stopped on US-50 and arrested.
Herrington was booked on suspicion of felony flee and elude, driving under the influence, transporting an open container of alcohol, possessing an unspecified controlled substance and paraphernalia and “multiple” traffic counts.
Formal charges are currently pending.
