Formal charges have been filed after an alleged standoff in west central Emporia earlier this week.
Dwayne Lamont Ford now faces four counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement, one count of interference with law enforcement and one count of domestic battery. Ford’s first appearance in Lyon County District Court is set for Monday.
Ford, 55, was accused after a reported domestic incident Wednesday afternoon led to the apparent standoff in the 700 block of Wilson, across the street from Mary Herbert Education Center. Officers have said Ford was holding a machete as they arrived. They also say an officer fired a non-lethal round into one of Ford’s legs in an attempt to have him surrender while he was outside the house, but Ford instead went inside and remained there for about two hours before surrendering without further incident.
