Good Way Gardens in Emporia is bringing a brand new concert series to the community and it officially begins this holiday weekend.
The first Good Way Sunday will be held at the historic Howe House located at 315 East Logan Avenue from 5 to 8 pm. Organizer Elexa Dawson of Good Way says her major motivation for beginning the concert series stems from her career as a traveling musician.
Sunday’s event will feature String Daze, an open mic and jam as well as conversations on gardening, solarization and seeding. Good Way Gardens is a new organization funded through the Emporia Community Foundation aimed at utilizing unused spaces to create gardens that facilitate artistic performances within the local community.
Good Way has partnered with the Lyon County Historical Society which granted permission for Good Way to create its first garden on the Howe House property. Good Way held a kickoff event last month, however, Dawson says this will be the first official Good Way Sunday series event with concerts taking place the first Sunday of every month.
