The Kansas City Royals earned their fourth walk-off win of the season with a 4-3 victory in 10 innings over the Cleveland Guardians Thursday.
Freddy Fermin’s 2-run double in the 10th inning won the game for the Royals. It was his second walk-off hit of the season.
Cleveland scored its first two runs in the fifth inning.
The Royals tied the game in the eighth with a sacrifice fly by Edward Olivares and an RBI single by Nick Pratto.
Cleveland took a 3-2 lead in the 10th when Jose Ramirez stole home.
Kyle Isbel and Nicky Lopez would score on Fermin’s double to give the Royals the win.
Royals begin a 3-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday in Kansas City. Alec Marsh will start for the Royals, making his Major League debut. The first pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 6:30 pm.
Kansas City Royals owner John Sherman met with the media Thursday.
He said they were not where they want to be this season. But it is about building a good foundation first.
When it comes to a new stadium Sherman said he expects the Royals to play at the K for the next 4 to 5 years. A new Stadium won’t be ready until 2027 or 2028.
Sherman says Kauffman is not competitive with other ballparks, and needs to keep up with MLB standards.
The Royals are aiming to announce their proposed location for a potential new stadium in or near downtown Kansas City by the end of the summer.
