(kcroyals) The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Kansas City Royals 9-3 Friday night. Mookie Betts led off the game with a home run and the Dodgers never trailed. Betts added a home run in the 3rd inning and finished the game 4 for 4 at the plate with 2 walks and 4 RBI. The Royals scored single runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings.
The Royals and Dodgers play again Saturday night. Daniel Lynch will be the starting pitcher for the Royals. The first pitch is set for 6:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM
beginning at 5:30 pm.
The Royals have traded reliever Aroldis Chapman to the Texas Rangers. In return, the Royals acquired lefty pitcher Cole Ragans — who has appeared out of the Rangers’ bullpen this season but is viewed as a starter — and Dominican Summer League outfielder Roni Cabrera. Royals General Manager JJ Picollo said they accomplished what they set out to do.
Ragans, 25, has been added to the 40-man roster and optioned to Triple-A Omaha, where he’ll continue to get stretched out as a starter and get ready for his first opportunity in Kansas City, which will likely come soon. Cabrera who is only 17 has been assigned to the Royals’ Dominican Summer League team.
