In two months, the Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival will take over parts of downtown Emporia.
This year’s festival will once again bring nearly 30 musicians and groups to Emporia. H2E Inc. President Hank Osterhout says the event features “a killer lineup,” with two high-energy acts headlining the show.
As a musician himself, Osterhout says there is a lot of joy for him in organizing a festival of this magnitude.
The festival is Sept. 2, with five stages in downtown for music. The Emporia First Friday Art Market will be set up in the Farmers Market parking lot near Seventh and Merchant, and No Coast Film Festival will have a music video screening event at 627 Event Space.
The festival is free to attend, although Osterhout says this will be the last year the event will be free — in part to make the festival more sustainable and also in part for safety because last year’s event was near the projected capacity and an admission fee helps to track numbers. Supporter passes are $150 and include a meal, beverages and an official goodie bag. Vendors and potential sponsors — and people interested in filling certain positions, either for this festival or possibly on a year-round basis — are encouraged to get more information on the Halfway 2 Everywhere Music and Arts Festival Facebook page or by going online to ksfreeforarts.org.
