The bombs were definitely bursting in air at Emporia State University for the city’s annual fireworks display.
The show went for about 30 minutes, thanks to the work of lead pyrotechnician Bernie Toso and a host of volunteers.
Emporia Police reported no issues before, during or after the show. The featured viewing area, Welch Stadium, remained the same, as did the tailgating areas across campus, but the traffic flow on the east side had some adjustments with ongoing road construction affecting parts of Highland until mid-August.
