LCAT riders have likely noticed the new fare schedule as approved earlier this year.
The new rates went into effect this past weekend, and Director Shane Brunner says LCAT joins a list of other price increases resident have been seeing the past two years.
Transportation Director Janice Arb says riders have been expecting an increase for a while.
The new rates include:
*$2 per one-way trip, up from $1.50
*Ten-ride passes now cost $15 instead of $14
*Family passes go from $45 to $50
*Trips for county trips go from $7 to $10
*Regional trips go from 42 cents per mile to 50 cents per mile
Frequent-rider pass will still cost $35 due to its popularity, while semester passes for students will remain at $105.
Besides the new rates, Arb says LCAT continues to see heavy demand for its regional bus, which takes riders to places like Kansas City, Topeka, Wichita or neighboring states if riders call to set up a transport schedule. LCAT has also added demand routes to meet the ongoing need — and Arb says LCAT may end its longstanding route buses.
