Wichita Police officers continue an investigation after the arrest of an Emporia man last month on alleged child sex abuse.
John Robert Burton, age 55, was arrested June 19 — in the 1200 block of Wichita’s South Emporia Street. Burton was arrested on suspicion of rape and aggravated indecent liberties, both with a child under age 14. Burton has been jailed since his arrest on a $250,000 bond, but court dates have not posted to the District Court Public Access Portal.
Emporia Police Capt. Ray Mattas has confirmed officers locally are helping with the investigation underway through Wichita Police. Additional details are currently pending.
