A brand-new fundraiser is coming Saturday to downtown Emporia.
Lolapalooza will be at Ninth and Commercial from 10 am to 2 pm. The event funds the Lola Love Fund in honor of Lola Walker, the founder of Purralot Kitty Rescue, and is designed to help residents in economic hardship as they try to get their cats spayed or neutered. Event organizer and Street Cats Club board member Ryann Brooks says this is an extension of Walker’s original donation.
Besides its work to spay and neuter cats, Street Cats Club also continues its work on TNR, or trap/neuter/return. it also offers support and resources for cat caregivers and manages a cat foster care program.
Entry is free and tickets for different games can be purchased during the event, ranging from $1 for single tickets to $15 for 20 tickets.
