Public hearings begin in person this week for Evergy’s proposed rate increase across its system.
With hearings in Topeka and Overland Park this week and Wichita later this month, residents across the KVOE listening area that want to learn directly from Evergy officials or want to participate in the process will likely have to go online. Residents can comment via Zoom, but they need to register in advance through the Kansas Corporation Commisssion’s website link. Residents can go to the KCC YouTube channel if they want to watch but not comment.
Evergy has proposed an average monthly rate increase of over $14 for its Evergy Central customers, including all in the KVOE listening area. The proposed increase for Evergy Metro customers, or those in the Kansas City metro area, could see an average monthly increase of almost $3.50. The KCC will have final approval.
The public hearing schedule:
*Tuesday: Washburn Institute of Technology Conference Center, 6 pm
*Thursday: KU Edwards BEST Conference Center, Overland Park, 6 pm
*July 27: Lowe Auditorium, Wichita State University, 6 pm
