Residents with Welsh heritage — and those who just lvoe a good historical story — are encouraged to attend an appearance from best-selling author Sarah Woodbury in Emporia this week.
Woodbury, writer of the After Cilmeri series, will appear at the Lyon County History Center from 5:30-8:30 pm. A happy hour begins the event at 5:30 pm. There are advance ticket reservations of $25 a person including reserved seating, a Welsh appetizer menu and a special signature cocktail. Free general admission begins at 6:45 pm, with Woodbury’s conversation beginning around 7.
Woodbury says her interest in Welsh history developed in college as a student at Cambridge University.
Woodbury will focus on significant moments in medieval Welsh history, including historical landmarks featured in the After Cilmeri series, and a reading from one of the books.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Arvonia Historic Preservation Society, Lyon County History Center, St. David’s Society of Kansas and Great Plains Welsh Heritage Project of Wymore, Nebraska.
