The Emporia High volleyball team has had a busy summer.
Emporia High is wrapping up team camp Wednesday prior to going to KU Team Camp that begins Thursday.
The Lady Spartans were one match away from qualifying for state a season ago.
Senior Alexa Shivley says that’s driving them to improve during the summer heading into the season.
Emporia High coach Ping Wang says the team camp is helping them prepare for the competition they’ll face at KU.
The Lady Spartans have also played in a summer league in Lebo and have played in tournaments at Derby and Seaman.
Wang added practices and games have been beneficial heading into the upcoming season.
Practices for the Lady Spartans begin on Aug. 14. Emporia High’s first tournament will be on Aug. 25 in Newton.
